Nimbus Hatchery

The Nimbus Hatchery at one time provided approximately 100 miles of stream in which the salmon and steelhead could spawn and rear. The Nimbus Hatchery was completed in 1958, and brought to attention that the salmon and steelhead areas were cut-off, so that was part of the reason behind building the hatchery. The primary purposes of the Folsom Dam project, of which Nimbus is an important part, are flood control, municipal water supply, power generation and irrigation.
